2 y/o Ear pain and Fever iHuman (NRNP 6541 week 4 Acute Otitis Media)

A healthy 2-year-old female presents with a 3-day history of runny nose and cough, accompanied by a 2-day fever reaching 101.1°F measured tympanically. Although her appetite is decreased, she is maintaining adequate fluid intake and has a normal frequency of urination and bowel movements. Physical examination reveals severe bulging of both tympanic membranes, consistent with acute otitis media, along with redness and pus in the throat. She has not received the influenza vaccine this season and has been exposed to sick children at daycare, as well as secondhand smoke at home, which may increase her risk for respiratory infections and complications.
