6531 iHuman Case Study week 9 (66 y/o with lower back pain) – The patient is a 66-year-old female retiree with a PMH of osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and chronic back pain who reports 1 day of sudden, constant, 9/10 lumbothoracic non-radiating back pain after heavy lifting. She denies numbness, tingling, falls, trauma, fever, weight loss, bowel/bladder incontinence, lightheadedness, or a history of cancer. Physical exam reveals stable vitals and a kyphotic posture with an inability to perform spinal special testing. Palpation of the back reveals pain and localized tenderness to the L1 bony prominence. Bilateral lower extremity strength, reflexes, tone, and sensation are intact.
